Description / Use

  • A single channel needle, triple-beveled, with a 5 mm grooved echogenic zone before the beveled tip.
  • A thin tubing connecting the needle to a bung. The latter is fitted onto a Falcon® type collecting tube.
  • A three-way valve (for the model concerned), to choose between aspiration or rinsing of the follicles.
  • A vacuum tube connecting the bung to the aspiration source.

The complete sets (needle + tubing) provide adapted storage conditions for the oocytes during the collection, particularly being able to maintain the vials at an appropriate temperature using heating systems. The resilient properties of polyurethane ensure flexibility without kinking for a regular flow rate, with no loss of suction. The specific quality of steel and polishing techniques improve the needle’s handling and sliding motion. The grooved circular markings provide echogenicity very close to the bevel.

Hyaluronidase Solution

Description / Use

Hyaluronidase Solution is a convenient, ready-to-use solution designed for removing cumulus cells surrounding freshly retrieved oocytes prior to ICSI or other ART procedures.

This solution consists of 80 IU/mL of Hyaluronidase enzyme in a HEPES buffered HTF medium with therapeutic-grade human serum albumin (50mb/m:) and the antibiotic gentamicin sulfate (10µg/mL).

Irvine Scientific has performed extensive efficacy testing on Hyaluronidase Solution using freshly retrieved mouse oocytes and one-cell embryos.

The performance of Irvine Scientific’s Hyaluronidase Solution was equivalent to control hyaluronidase solutions, and no toxicity was observed to mouse oocytes and embryos. The development of one-cell embryos to blastocysts was equivalent after exposure to Hyaluronidase Solution as compared to non exposed controls (in growth medium only). The lot-to-lot performance of HJyaluronidase Solution was consistent for enzyme activity and the removal of cumulus cells from freshly retrieved oocytes with in 2 minutes.

In addition to the mouse oocyte and embryo bioassays, Hyaluronidase Solution is also tested for enzyme activity using a standard enzymatic assay for Hyaluronidase. This permits verification of actual enzyme activity, in addition to the functional bioassay of cumulus dell removal and lack of toxicity.

Morover, stability studies have been conducted to determine the enzymatic activity of Irvine Scientific’s Hyaluronidase Solution after storage at several temperatures. The results is greater than 95% of the initial enzymatic activity (80IU/mL) remains after storage for 2 months at 6℃ (refrigerated) or 6 months frozen (-10℃).

The recommended storage temperature for this product is frozen (<-10℃) to assure a shelf life of at least 6 months. Repeated freeze/thaw cycles of Hyaluronidase Solution (no more than 3) did not adversely affect the enzymatic activity.

Hyaluronidase Solution

  • The shelf life is 6 months when stored sealed at the recommended temperature of (<-10℃).
  • Gentamicin sulfate is included as the antibiotic.

Integrated Optics

As the only sperm analysis system with an internal optical system, the IVOS II offers distinct advantages to the sperm analysis laboratory. In contrast to the continuous illumination of a microscope, the IVOS uses illumination strobed at 1/1000 of a second to visualize sperm motion. This strobed illumination eliminates motion-related blurring along the length of the sperm head, resulting in precise sperm tracking. By adding an image capture rate of 60 frames per second, you get the highest level of accuracy available today for measuring sperm velocities and motion parameters. For added flexibility, the IVOS performs analyses under three types of internal, strobed illumination: phase contrast, bright field and multi-wavelength fluorescence.

Automated, Internal, Heated Specimen Stage

As part of the integrated optical system, the unique computer controlled specimen stage of the IVOS II provides precise control of temperature and position during analysis. The stage temperature, which may be set from ambient to 40°C, remains constant to within 0.5°C. For selection of analysis fields, the stage may be programmed for either manual or automatic field selection. For at-a-glance monitoring, the current stage temperature and position are continuously shown on screen as a real-time, digital display. The IVOS stage accommodates and automatically adjusts for commonly used analysis chambers, such as disposable fixed-depth slides, cannulas and Makler chambers. In addition, a user-defined chamber setting is available.

Leja Counting

Description / Use

High quality disposable counting chambers for semen analysis. Due to their special characteristics, Leja slides will both save time and increase the level of accuracy and precision of semen analysis.

All slides are covered with a special coating to prevent air bubble formation and to prevent semen from sticking to the chamber surface. The resin and ink used are both non-toxic. The Leja slides have an excellent low limit of quantification and can handle high sperm concentrations. This has a direct clinical impact: you will be better prepared to determine the thresholds for the various modalities of Assisted Reproduction Technologies (waiting for natural conception, intrauterine insemination, in-vitro fertilization or intracytoplasmic sperm injection) and to decide which treatment is optimal for a couple.

The high level of accuracy and precision of the Leja chambers will allow your results to be compared with other laboratories’ scientific data concerning the relationship between semen parameters (concentration, motility, viscosity) and fertility.
